Best New Music 3/29

It all started for us with the music, which is why we've decided that it would be more beneficial to separate our favorite new music into it's own post, so that we could truly represent all the amazing local, national, and international music released every week.

Local:

Minna from Anime Creek blessed us with her first solo single this week. If you haven't already checked it out, what are you doing?!

Hardly Art's too cool for you, indie/folk band The Moondoggies releases their newest single off of upcoming album A Love Sleeps Deep out April 13th.

Distinction was lucky enough to premiere Big Lips & Big Lies two newest singles this week. For a more in depth review, check out Rachel Si's full premiere.

For fans of The Ramones, check out Mud On My Bra's new EP, released this past week on Den Tapes. Jess Peterson gave us an amazing review on the project here. Also make sure to check out our drink pairing for the album on Instagram.

National:

A friend recommended this split single to me. Perfect for fans of Joyce Manor, and similar Bandcamp-esque Indie/Emo.

Another new premiere from our blog this past week! Get more in depth with Kate's review here.

This track fucking bangs. All for more Rico Nasty in 2018.

TBH I just stumbled upon this on Spotify's New Releases, but I really dig it, and you probably will too.

Sunflower Bean does it again with their modern day throwback to classic and glam hard rock. Perfect for singing in the shower.

Another single off of an album that comes out next week. This album is going to be dark, and trippy, and I'm really excited. Make sure to listen to the full album, Vacation in Hell, when it's out on April 6th.

Wye Oak releases another dreamy single off of next week's new release The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs, out on April 6th.

Frankie Cosmos first Sub Pop release is technically out tomorrow, but you can stream the album early here.

The second single released for the June 1st release, The Future and The Past, is soulful, jazzy and fun. The perfect feminist anthem.

  • Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - "Shiggy" (Matador)

Jasmine sent me this, and it was from Matador, so I listened to it, and it's really good. Will we see a rock comeback in 2018?

International:

Like a lot of Unknown Mortal Orchestra songs, this song is perfect for dancing. Plus this was premiered in the coolest way ever, by mailing out pamphlet that contained a website with the song to everyone who preordered the album. The new album Sex & Food is out on April 6th, which seems like it's just going to be a huge music day for us.

This song is literally just a remix to an already good song, but I love it so much.
