Get To Know Me: Tambo
The eighth year of local music festival, VanFest, is taking place on Saturday, August 25 at Royal Arch Masonic Park in Maple Valley. To celebrate the little fest that could, we're spending the next two months highlighting the bands playing VanFest 8. Today, get to know Maple Valley alternative band Tambo.
The Ocean - Led Zeppelin The Ocean was the first seemingly difficult song that I had learned when I was younger. I had discovered a new sense of musical direction and began challenging myself as a musician. State of Love and Trust - Pearl Jam Early 90’s Seattle rock has had the biggest influence by far than any other. State of Love and Trust is my favorite song by one of my favorite artists, and what better than a song to come from a soundtrack for a movie that showcased the early 90’s Seattle rock music scene. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles This is the first song I played with my first band at Daces and I remember being so shy on stage, so it's a reminder of my growth Ladylike / WHATTA BITCH - The Regrettes It's a commentary on what society expects of women-they should be submissive and insecure. The artist reclaims the word bitch, instead of letting it debilitate her she makes it a statement, and an empowering one at that. Cabinet Man - Lemon Demon Neil Cicierega is a genius and writes weird songs with weird lyrics and I love it. He's a storyteller with a synth what else could you want. Enter Sandman - Metallica Although everyone has probably heard this song, it’s undeniable that this is not a great rock song. It also happens to be the first song I ever performed on the drums as well. Highway to Hell - AC/DC AC/DC has always had the ability to write some of the greatest guitar rhythms ever, but this song was actually the first song I ever learned how to play on the drums.
