To celebrate the little fest that could, we're spending the next two months highlighting the bands playing VanFest 8. Today, get to know pop-punk/garage rock trio Question? No Answer.
Since we are slightly eclectic, I split it into 4 categories.
1. The first 6 songs are general influences of ours that all of us listened to growing up. Older pop punk/grunge shit.
We began at 16 just covering old Green Day, Nirvana and Misfits songs.
2. Songs 7 - 11 are 5 top songs picked by our drummer, Das.
Mostly Punk/Comedy Punk. He tends to enjoy a pretty heavy dose of cheeky satire to complement the cynical and nihilistic edge of punk rock. His main bands of interest would include Guttermouth, The Sex Pistols and Bomb The Music Industry. Also, he loves 1940’s music and wishes every song ever was played in double time.
3. Songs 12 - 16 were picked by our Vocalist/Guitarist, ChuKy.
His rock music interests generally involve groove focused percussion (especially in odd time signatures), dramatic harsh clean vocals and and melodic guitar patterns with occasional jazz elements. It sits somewhere between Punk, Nu-metal, Early Emo and Michael Jackson. He is also a big fan of Thrash Metal, Irish Folk and Carnatic Music. His main bands of interest would include Glassjaw, letlive. and Refused.
4. Songs 17 - 21 were picked by our Bassist/Backing Vocalist, Nellie.
Her appreciation for music mostly relies on elements of melodic dissonance, technical percussive elements, high and bright clean/screamo vocals and lyrics that are reminiscent of the early emo bands. She was raised on Pink Floyd and she really digs 90’s sounding alt rock. She says that English accents make things better as well. Her main bands of interest include Underoath, Circa Survive and The Used.
