This Thursday, October 11, Crane City Music, Do206, and KEXP are combining forces to bring Stas Thee Boss, Chong the Nomad, Kung Foo Grip, and DoNormaal to Nectar Lounge to celebrate the split vinyl LP release between Stas and Chong. Over the week, we'll be highlighting the artists playing the show and getting to know them through a playlist of songs and artists that are important to them. Today, get to know THEESatisfaction member and KEXP DJ, Stas Thee Boss.
DMM: As far as inspiration for S’women the samples were so beautifully precise, who were your main influences?
Stas: Missy Elliott, Roc Marciano, Shabazz Palaces
With the evolution of the Seattle music scene and being a part of it for so long, what aspect do you think is most important for us, as fans to consider?
I think Seattle Hip Hop fans need to understand that a lot has changed in a very short amount of time and a lot of the groundwork that has been laid down often gets ignored. Its very fruitful now because of the many seeds planted by others before us.
Who are your favorite up and coming artists, local or international?
Favorite up and coming PNW artists: Khris P, B Roc, Blakk Soul
Hi, I'm Stasia. Here lies a playlist of songs that I've created, produced and or rapped on. I've been making music since 2008 and I haven't stopped. I draw from Miles Davis, The Mizell Brothers, Outkast, Richard Smallwood, QTip, Chaka Khan, Gang Starr, Missy Elliott and Erykah Badu the most. Mad love to the Black Constellation.
